D-D-D-Dress up!

Ta Da! Our efforts in cheering up MK...

Prepped for the paparrazi

yo HO yo HO, a pirate's life for me!

Whoa, I'm such a ski bum!

Ali's salon slogan. Makes you want to go to her, huh?

Heading out to Camp Shilom, I won't even tell you what's in the Camelback...

I told you I would deliver, and deliver I did...

Sidenote: I'm super sick of the vampire looking lady on the Vonage commercial. Does she really think those sideburns count as her frontal hair section? And P.S - doesn't she know dial up isn't the way to go anymore? Der.

Quick Trip to Idaho

You may remember from a previous post eons ago that my bestest friends are my Steel Magnolias. My hair school girl friends are some of the best friends I have ever had. I love all of them and would do anything for them.

Last week Mary Kate's mom, Carol, died of Alzheimer's at a very early age of 52. Without a second thought Ali and I began to plan our trip to Idaho for the funeral.

Leaving around 5:00 p.m on Sunday, we arrived in Shelley Idaho around 8:30 just in time to honor her mom at the viewing. Viewings tend to make me a little uneasy and squeamish, but I was surprisingly calm. Her mother looked so beautiful and peaceful in her temple clothing.

Since the viewing was practically over I was able to stand over her casket with Mary for a few minutes and talk about the past few days, and how she's been dealing with everything. She showed me that she got to pluck her mom's eyebrows, and how she knew her mom would appreciate that since she was always so put together when she was alive and a few years into her diagnosis. She said her mom would've been so embarrassed to be seen by hundreds of people without a little grooming! I was surprised to hear that Mary Kate really enjoyed doing that, and she said it was a good way to heal.

After the viewing we headed to Mary Kate's parents estate. Not really an estate, but her home was amazing! Set on acres and acres of land, and surrounded by their potato farms (classic), it was really so beautiful! I even considered a small town life there for a few milliseconds.

Mary Kate wanted Ali and I to pull her hair a little blonder since both of her sisters are blonde, and that's how they grew up. Three blondies!

We had a blast coloring her hair, and then playing dress up in her room (more to come on that later). I love being with those girls, I can 100% be myself!

The funeral was the next morning, and it was truly a beautiful service. Mary Kate and her sisters did the life sketch, and I really loved listening to the type of person Carol was.

Grabbing a Diet Coke after the service with Carrie!

Carrie and her husband live in Boise and traveled down to Shelley and completely surprised Mary Kate!

Nothin' like a good funeral BBQ! I super duper love funeral potatoes.

Four of the six originals.

I love my Mary!

Don't we look darling? Sweaty and gross, too.

We headed back to Provo around 5:00 p.m (guess that's our lucky travel time), and enjoyed ourselves some Diet Coke, Java Twix, white chocolate popcorn, Mambas and Hairspray-singing!

I love-a my girls, and I'm so glad we had the opportunity to be there for Mary Kate!

Today's Thoughts

I'm at work all day today, of course. Most of my family is spending time with Whethan and their new baby in California. I'm insanely jealous, and depressed about it. Since when can I not drop everything and go meet my new nephew? Being an adult sucks.

On a happier note, I may be spending some of my day at 7 peaks tomorrow. Yup, I, a nearly-23-year-old, bought a 7 peaks pass. It was super cheap, so don't judge me. I just need SUN! A friend I dance with has one too, so we'll just go there and maybe pick up on some 14 year old boys with our dance moves. Sweeeeet.

I started going to a tennis class, which was super fun the first day, and super embarrassing the second day. I'd like to blame my parents for never placing a beloved tennis racket in my hands as a child (It's much easier to blame others for your lack of talent). I'd actually like to be decent in at least one sport in my life, I thought tennis might be that lucky sport. I'm being too hard on myself, it's only been two lessons...someone encourage me, please.

I'll be waxing a pair of legs tonight. Not my own, Ali's. I think it's going to hurt her a lot, especially since I've never waxed such a large area. No Ali, your legs are not large. I'm just comparing them to say...eyebrows. I hope that goes well. I apologize in advance, Ali, for the pain I will cause you.

Yipee!

Whitty is being induced tonight, I'm going to have a new nephew tomorrow! I already love that little squishy once-looked-like-a-sea-monkey baby tons. Good luck Whitty and baby!

*Correction: Whitney will be induced the morning of 6/12.

My Dear Sweet Love

Dear Licorice Love,

You are divine. Those bold claims on your exterior are an understatement. Ever since I met you I fell fast and hard for you. You are a tasty treat at any time of the day. In fact, I had nine pieces of you in bed last night. Lights off, husband snoring, and me just chewing away. It was delightful.

I wish my husband wouldn't find you so delicious as well. I wish I could come home to the three extra bags I bought a Smith's one evening at midnight, rather than one and a half.

I just discovered you have dozens of other flavors, and I've now realized you will become a vice for me and my husband. However, I don't hold it against you. You're amazing.

Love,

Your biggest fan

Another Pretty Creation

Mal Gal likes her hair exotic. On Monday we took her from a level 4 red, to a level 6 red. A 6/43 to be exact. Does that color ring a bell, Megan my young grasshopper?

I Swear I Graduated...

Here is the story:
Paula colored her hair black about eight months ago. She's Columbian (this has nothing to do with the story), and she rocked her hair color for a few months. S

he then flipped through her wedding album, and re-liked her lighter hair color (level 7) from her past. She decided it was time to lighten her hair.

We began this process six months ago. First process: three applications of Prava Color Remover, and her highlights. She was less black afterward.

Between first and second process: Paula discovered she was pregnant, and I blamed her hair's refusal to lighten on her growing belly.

Second process: Full weave to lighten most pieces, she was then a dark brown with caramel highlights. Very pretty.

Third process (two nights ago): Soap cap. This is basically a bleach shampoo, and can be risky. But I was ready to get my hands dirty.

Before the work began...

Post soap cap. AH! Her hair shaft was four colors. Very dark regrowth, bright yellow for about three inches, dark mid shaft, and lighter ends. I definitely had my work cut out for me.

After the color application there was a mild mixture of bleach in the foils, and four different colors from roots to ends.

VOILA! Yes, I work miracles! Cute fringe too, huh? This is under the ridiculously bright light over my station. Always makes the hair appear warmer than it is.

VOILA! Yes, I work miracles! Cute fringe too, huh? It'll still take one more process to get her as light as she'd like. I wouldn't want to turn her hair into cotton balls, now would I?

I got bored waiting for her hair. Dang five hour process.

My Husband the Golfer

"Hey Tadd, how about you go play in the Provo Open? You haven't played competitively for the past year and a half..."
Play, he did. Third place, he took. I would technically say he took second. The first and second place dudes tied. Lame.

There's my Taddow! Way to go babe!

Analyzing the putt. He's adorable.

He grew hair! And it came in gray, creepy.

Preparing for the tournament on Thursday, out golfing with our friends. I can't believe he rewore this shirt on Saturday for the Open. Fashion faux pas, dear Tadd.

This man has a beauty of a swing

I get bored and take pictures of myself. I'm thinking of sending this one into America's Next Top Model. I'm super hot.

Skittles, Scott and Kristen

Scotty and Kristen made us dinner that night after golfing. Tadd loved the chicken kabobs. Maybe I should learn to cook, and make him yummy things. Maybe he would love me again.

Congrats on your third place title in the Provo Open, honey bunches. You are such a great golfer, and I'm so proud of you! I can't help but brag about you to my friends because you deserve it! Keep it up, so I can meet Tiger Woods someday!

A Day at the Park City

A few weeks ago I was asked to go sit at a booth in Park City for a Lacrosse event. Out of the norm, no? Apparently a Team Elite couple partially live there (of course their second home is in Florida), and they wanted Nu Skin to sponsor the event. Lacrosse is huge out in Park City! I had never watched a game, so I was quite intrigued.

The boys games were pretty violent! They can hit each other with their sticks and push really hard! (If they aren't called sticks, don't correct me. I enjoy being ignorant).

I went up to Park City with my friend Whitney, also an employee. We headed up there at about 9 a.m. I was so dang proud of myself for being prepared with MapQuest directions to the Park City High School. It took us about an hour to arrive at our MapQuested destination. A few minutes before arrival, we both went silent and looked around at our destination. Why would a high school be in a residential area? A hilly residential area? Is the Park City High School really in Jeremy Ranch just off the golf course?

Then a light went on in Whitney's head, that smart girl.

W: Did you MapQuest the wrong address?

C: Of course not, I entered in the address on the email we got from that dude at Nu Skin.

W: Pulling out her BlackJack to check the email, "Caitlyn! You found directions for the home address you ship supplies to for the Lacrosse event!"

I then had to sheepishly call the head of the event and tell him we were lost. He asked where we were, and I told him he didn't want to know. Serves me right for trying to be a big girl! We had a pretty good laugh though!

Whit and I at our beautiful booth. Quite frankly it was the most ghetto one there.

With a few Lacrosse boys (pretty sure they had a crush on us), and Giselle Sexsmith, Team Elite.
Our main job was to answer product questions. Are either of us trained in Product Support? Nope!
*
I made up some truly amazing things about our product. I believe I even told one boy that our juice would make him kiss better.
*
All in all, a lovely day. I've NEVER been so burnt in my life. This was two weeks ago and my arm (singular) is still peeling.
*
I can't complain about the 14 hours of overtime though!

Sole Struck

The heels, straps, patent finish, laces, cushioned insteps, and intricate details. All of it leaves me...sole struck. I love shoes. Really, what girl doesn't? Recently I have been made privy to an amazing website, http://www.solestruck.com/. Check it out, love it.

I have a crush on red shoes. These have a darling small wedge, so imagine them with white knee length shorts and a colored tee.
I'm on a search for sandals like these this summer, and it's just too bad these cost 60 big ones.
What could you not love about a high wedge with lovely detailing?
And of course we have our classic 80's throw back slip on. I prefer these, just a simple light tan.
I'm obsessed with flats right now. Unfortunately for Tadd, he has surrendered a portion of his closet to two hanging shoe thingies filled with flats. By filled, I mean three pair of flats share a compartment.
There's nothing like a perfect pair of skinny jeans with a stunning flat with a POP of color!
Now, I haven't really rocked the chunky heel yet, but I'd love these with the perfect pair of wide leg dress pants.

Remember my obsession with flats? I adore the red piping on these, and I'm a sucker for the perfectly rounded toe.
I won't mention that these can only be purchased with a minimum of $120.
Another pair of silver shoes, I'm just into metallics. Don't judge me. These would be darling with black dress shorts.
I'm always on the look out for the perfect pair of black stilettos. I believe my friend Charles David makes these, bless him.

And these I am featuring for Megan. She would rock a bright blue shoe with no fear. Don't you love the cutout in the instep, Meg?

I believe these would flash some grrreat toe cleavage. L-O-V-E.

Now if only I had the ankles to wear these, or half the flats I want.

Well there you have it. I'm a shoe whore.

Memorial Day Weekend

Oh, how I love holidays. I love doing whatever the heck I want.

I woke up this morning at 9, headed to a spin class, almost died again....Came home and crawled right into bed again. It is now 4:00 and here I sit blogging and watching "Tora, Tora Tora" (not my choice).

Maybe I should go take a shower. But get this, if I don't want to...I won't! Oh, how I love holidays!

Hairing

Just a regular ol' Saturday spent at the saloon, non stop from 10-5:30. Sounds awful, right? Not to me, I love my part time cosmetology job.

Come visit my chair at Robert Cole Salon, and I'll rock your world.

Wedding Stills

A few more pictures from the event. I just got these from Whitney, and I'm not sure why she thought the only pictures I wanted were ones that I'm in...Someday I'd like some of the bride and groom as well! How about those shoe pictures? Wuv wou Whitty.

My Mally pally

All the sissies. I have beautiful sisters, huh?

I think I'd like this one framed. I love this boy to bits!

Fixin' the hizair. I like Bree in the background holding down her dress. It was mighty windy.

Game #6

Dad scored four tickets in the Nu Skin suite to game number six of the Jazz vs. Lakers playoffs, handed them over to Tadd, and Tadd chose to take his wifey, Chris and Tysen. Poor Dad was stuck standing in a receiving line in San Jose for the Hall's second reception.

Fortunately for Dad he didn't miss out on anything. The game was absolutely terrible. Better luck next year, Jazz!

We ended up skipping out on the game early since it was THAT bad, and some reporters from KJZZ chased us down really wanting to know what Tadd and Chris thought of Burma and the Economic Stimulus. They were interviewed roughly 10 minutes longer than they wanted, but once you get Chris started, he just won't stop! It was pretty entertaining, and I may be able to get a hold of some pictures from the photographer that I'll post later.

Funniest part: When Chris was asked about the Economic Stimulus, and his thoughts, he proceeded to tell them he thought it was stupid and that all these people are just going out and buying big screen TVs with it, and so on...Guess what Tadd and I did with our Economic Stimulus cash?

Presenting...

The new Executive Account Manager for Southern California and Hawaii! Same job I've been doing for the past 20 months, but a new region. I've graduated from the east coast to the west coast, and couldn't be more excited!
