A Friday Night...

...spent at the parents minus Tadd, whom I gave the night off to, to which he celebrated by taking a nap. Whoa, dream big! (Juno, anyone?)

Samson needed to log some much needed time with Grumpa and Gamma. He felt he should survey the backyard that would soon occupy a pool. You know, nod his approval. He needed to let the doggies lick his little face to strengthen their friendship. He needed to let his mother play Scattergories while he slept. And he needed to learn a few things from cousin Addie.

Addie read him books, a favorite past time of his, and also showed him where his pockets were, which made her father very uncomfortable.

Sam tried his hardest to show off his crawling, but still couldn't get his arms to get in on the action. Those knees of his are eager to jump start this new activity, but without his arms cooperation, all he ends up doing is something similar to the worm.

Addie showed him how to properly eat spaghetti. With hands, only holding a spoon as a prop.

She even demonstrated with both spoons most of the time.

Samson did teach Addie one thing in return, and by example. Eat what Mom/Aunt Caitlyn is spooning into your mouth.
Baby food: not just for those under 12 months.

In other news: we lowered Sammy's crib since I know he's 'this close' to getting back on his little bum when he's laying down.

He seems so big today. Maybe it was his sweater vest at church which turned him into an old man, albeit an adorable old man. Then comparing him next to his two new cousins (week old today), he was just huge! I wouldn't be shocked if I found he was going to college tomorrow.
C'est la vie...

Yesterday...

...I really tried to limit my Diet Coke intake to under 100 oz. I really did.
I did not succeed.
And I'm not that sad about it.

Just a Valentine-y Themed Post

With Valentine's Day next week-ish, there are sweet-themed things all over the internet. One site in particular caught my eye.
And I think I'd like all these things, or rather, I know of some people who would appreciate these little trinkets and such.

I would make Tadd an elaborate Valentine's breakfast of toast and Diet Mt Dew if I had this.

Could I wear this on Valentine's? It's just so lovely and spring-y.

And doesn't everyone need a giant plush anatomically correct heart?
Ok, I don't really like this at all.

How romantical would Tadd and I look jamming to Bieber Glee Coldplay together?

Ms. Tiger Lily teapot may just be the cutest thing I've ever seen.

I know Mallory would heart this, and any other bacon themed/flavored items.

I've never been to Serendipity, but who hasn't raved about their frozen hot chocolate? With this Tadd and I could experience it at home!

My Intense, Rapid Typing Wakes Up Tadd

and it doesn't make him very happy.

I have this friend. She is one of a kind. She turned 28 this year and threw herself a lil' party since el husbandero is Ethiopian and hasn't grasped the birthday concept quite yet.

We hit up Tommy Burger (Tadd and Sam had to bow out due to Sam's nap), which is super yummy, then headed over to Celina and Adam's house for Rainbow Chip birthday cake. Can we please make cake balls with this cake mix?

Party hats and noise makers were involved, which brought me back to my younger days when we people threw parties the right way! Makes me want to start planning Samson's 1st birthday party. Maybe even theme it up? Ooo exciting!

Happiest 28th to you!

A Few Firsties

Saturday was a big day for the little monster

First time holding his bottle throughout his whole feeding.
It's stupid, but I got a little misty eyed seeing him adjust the position of his hands to tilt the bottle higher and higher. It's like he doesn't need me anymore! Yes Mom, you were right, I should enjoy feeding him while it lasts.

First sit-up-bath in the sink

Discovered his first bruise. Sam's crappy mom accidently knocked him over at Aunt Whitney's and he fell into a firetruck.

First lion face!

I also got a video of Samson ALMOST crawling. Can't say I'm really ready for a mobile baby. Should I just push him over when he tries?

aaand...just a little more of the magic that occurred on our girl's night.

The perfect evening to just let loose (exhibit A: top left picture) and catch up on each other's lives!

Welcome Babies Nora and Lucy!

Wow! I am continually amazed at the awesomeness that is my in-laws!

Two sisters
Both expecting first baby
Both expecting baby girls
Both due Feb. 17th
Both girl's water breaks Sunday morning (one more so than the other, but still!)
Both babies delivered by the same doctor, same hospital, couple rooms apart

Nora Ruth arrived in the morning via C-section
Lucy Mae followed shortly after in the afternoon through a wonderfully, quick delivery

It has been a whirlwind of a day; I can't even imagine the emotions my sisters-in-law are feeling!

It's very clear these two babes weren't heading down to earth alone. If the events of today don't testify of the pre-existence, then please tell me, what does!?

Corbin and Nora, Roman and Lucy
Two ever-so-proud daddies

Little Nora with that dark skin and hair and such perfect chubby cheeks!
I am loving that she is a fuzzy baby just like our little guy was!

Lindey and Nora

Shaley and Lucy

Lots of dark hair on this sweet thing as well, and such a darling little mouth!

One elated, proud, shocked, overwhelmed grandma!

We are so excited these two babies have arrived, and cannot wait to help out in all the chaos!

Please help Kareen!

Where Has Time Gone?

When I was pregnant one comment I heard most often was something to the affect (effect?) of, "Enjoy every moment when he arrives, the time goes by so quickly." Near the end of nine months I had to resist the urge to roll my eyes at this cliche bit of advice, but oh my word! All you out there that escaped my offensive-hormonal-eye-roll, I apologize!

Is this really the same baby?

Is he really almost 8 months?

(post pregnancy hair loss + stupidly allowing it down the drain = clogged tubby/new adventure!)

Please help my niece come home!

Our Crafternoon Day Ended Like This...

Taken before the toy was taken away and Samson started crying. Single child much?
And look at that darling Violet! She looks like a 50's baby, huh?

This kid just wants to take off but can't get those arms to move! No rush, buddy! No rush.

Then we did lots of this. And by "this" I mean gnawing, giggling, cuddling and most of all, drooling.
Yes, that is absolutely a string of drool from chin to floor. Oh, the talents we discover daily, yowza.

Like my kid? Like other kids? Check this out!

Yesterday Was Filled With This...

A Peter-Girl Crafternoon!

Whitney hosted the project-ing at her house where we were entertained by each other, kiddies, chocolate covered pretzels and The Aquabats.

The making of our heart felt (how punny!) garlands

Really fun. And super easy! Tutorial here

Lookie! I sew! Ish.

Whitty's finished garland

Working on the second bit of Valentine decor...more to come on that later.

When we arrived, Van made sure Samson was well equipped with as many toys as possible, and all riiight on his lap.

Sammy had a rough time trying to nap at Whitney's, but once I got him to settle down (you know, the body-racking sobs and buckets of tears), he napped for almost three hours!

While Whitney ran to get dinner and Haley and Mallory were playing soccer (sooo wish I had a video of that), we rocked out to Pandora and, of course, chewed on toys.

Fundraiser GIVEAWAY!

Remember this post? Well, the process of bringing Kareen home has begun!

An excerpt from her blog:

Kareen is a 4 year old little girl with Down Syndrome who was given up at birth and has lived in an orphanage in Eastern Europe ever since. In her country a child with special needs is only held in an
orphanage until the age of 4 or 5 and is then transferred to an institution where conditions are bleak and offer little hope for living a fulfilling life.Kareen's story has touched our family, and we are committed to bring her home. The cost of international adoption is very high, and we could use your help!

Donate now through Saturday, February 5th, when one lucky person will receive a Brand New 16GB Wi-Fi iPad

For every $10 donated, you will be entered into a drawing for the iPad (i.e. $50 equals 5 entries). Also, if after donating, you advertise this giveaway on your blog or facebook, you will get an additional entry. Simply leave me a comment with your name and the link to your post.

Only Four Weeks!

I'm SO excited for these babies to arrive! Samson hasn't been a newborn for quite some time, and I miss it! These babies are coming at the perfect time because I ocassionally get the newborn itch these days. Tadd will have to remind me multiple times when these little ladies arrive that it's NOT time for another. And then we can collectively list the 18 million reasons why.

Greenie

It's just sad how little green I have in my surroundings. My mother would be so disappointed.

Hobby Lobby only just helped me somewhat remedy the problem.

This too.

Who knew how fun storage boxes could be?

Will this ever make sense to me???
